About

Hello all!

My name is Kevin Wang and welcome to my website!                                                                Kevinbuildscomputer.wordpress.com, as the URL suggests, is a comprehensive step-by-step guide on how to build your own personal computer. With the help of electronic media such as gifs and images, I will provide you with all the tools and the knowledge needed to build a computer on the cheap. However, this website incorporates more than just the instructions on assembling a computer. Kevinbuildscomputers.worpress.com also details the purpose of each component that you will be building with along with a brief introduction of the engineering behind each component.

Since I was ten years old, I have been building personal computers for both my family relatives and myself. At such a young age, I was fascinated with building computers because of its similarity to building a Lego set. I wanted to understand what made a computer work and how to make a computer faster to feed my bottomless hunger for the latest and greatest video games. This hunger slowly manifested into an immense curiosity of the disciplines of electrical engineering. I made the decision to become an electrical engineer during my time living abroad in Beijing, China. As an expatriate, I often missed the comforts of home such as American media. I viewed American television as a method of staying in touch with American culture and was disappointed when I could not continue to watch programs like the Super Bowl, SNL, or the nightly news. I soon invested in TV box that provided American content in China but the image was clustered with static. This prompted me to question why the signal was so bad and how I could improve upon the propagation of signal to negate static. This questioning soon led me to consider the concepts of signal processing and in combination with my strong affinity to computers; I was determined to study electrical engineering in college. Subsequently, electrical engineering and my experience with building computers have given me the sufficient knowledge today to present you with a comprehensive guide on how to build a computer and the engineering behind these machines.

The website is organized in such a way to provide knowledge in a chronological fashion in anticipation to actually getting your hands dirty with your computer components. The first tab presents the reasons as to why one should build a personal computer as opposed to buying one. The second tab offers the engineering and purpose of each component. The third tab offers the relevant links and material needed to make the best decision on what to buy and where. The fourth tab includes the step-by-step process while the 5th tab presents a critique on another computer building website.

On that note, I am excited to present you with my website and hope I am able to be of assistance to you!
